Class Reserves Information
Class Reserves Location and Policies
- Class Reserve materials are shelved and checked out from the circulation area.
- Items in the Class Reserve area are placed on reserve at the request of Faculty of OGI.
- Items remain on reserve until the corresponding class is over for the term, or until the instructor asks to have the materials removed -- whichever comes first.
Checking out Reserve Items
Checkout Time
- Items have a 2 hour loan period with two renewals.
- Reserve materials can be renewed from the online catalog or at the circulation desk.
- Items can be checked out for overnight use 2 hours before the Library closes each day
- and are due back 1 hour after the Library opens the next day.
Fines
- There is a 5 minutes grace period and then fines of $.25 per hour per item are charged for the first two hours and then $.50 per hour thereafter. Fines are charged for the hours that the library is closed.
- If other students have made a request on an overdue reserve item, a $5 charge per request is assessed in addition to the overdue fines.
Booking a Reserve Item
You may schedule a reserve item for a future time and date. You can do this yourself through the catalog. Locate the item in the catalog, by doing a title or author search. If the item can be reserved, the "status" box will contain a button labelled "Book this Item". Consult the calendar to see days on which items cannot be reserved. Submit your information, select a date and time, enter a note if desired, and click submit.
- This feature is particularly useful for scheduling for overnight use but you can schedule for any hours in which the library is open.
- There is a 15 minute "grace period" for picking up scheduled reserve items. You must appear within 15 minutes of the time that you requested or your schedule is forfeit and the book may be checked out to another patron.
Item Availability
- All materials in the Class Reserves area are listed in OGI Library Catalog.
- You can search by class, professor, and course title.
Reserve Request Form
If you are teaching a class at OGI, you can place items on reserve by using either the
- electronic reserve form
- or send an email of your request to
libogi@ohsu.edu.
