Patrons accessing subscription based resources remotely (from off-campus) will be prompted for their last name and library barcode for authentication.

Biomaterials Properties Database (University of Michigan)
- A freely available database of material properties, based on the work Dental materials and their selection, by W.J. O'Brien. The database is maintained by the University of Michigan and the NIDR Research Center, School of Dentistry, University of Michigan.
- Forty-five properties are arranged in table structures, with hotlinks to reference sources.
- Periodically updated; searchers can submit additional data for inclusion in the database.
- Freely available on the Web.
- BIOSIS is the major English-language database providing comprehensive worldwide coverage of research in the biological and biomedical sciences. Biochemistry, biophysics, bioengineering and biotechnology topics are included.
- Indexes over 5,500 journals and 1,500 books, conference abstracts, original research, reviews, selected government reports, and patents.
- Access is through the OVID interface, and there are links to full text both within OVID and to other full-text sites. Full MeSH thesaurus is supported for search terms.
- Coverage: 1990 to 2004; BIOSIS (Philadelphia, PA).
- Size: Over 13 million records in entire BIOSIS database.
- Accessed via Scifinder Scholar. Includes the Chemical Abstracts Plus File covering international journals, patents, patent families, technical reports, books, conference proceedings, and dissertations from all areas of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, and related sciences.
- Coverage: 1907 to the present; Updated daily; Over 23 million records.
- Access to 14 million Medline references from 1951 to present.
- Requires client software loaded on the workstation.
- Electronic version of the print publication Engineering Index. Subjects include civil, energy, environmental, geological, and biological engineering; electrical, automotive, nuclear, and aerospace engineering; and computers, robotics, and industrial robots.
- Indexes 5000 journals, as well as books, selected government reports, conference proceedings, and web pages.
- Access is through the Engineering Village 2 interface, which supports Boolean searching across multiple fields, limits, and result sorting.

CRISP: Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects 
- Database of information on research projects and programs supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
- Advanced search interface allows keyword searching across fields, as well as searches by author, grant type, grant number, activity, institution, institute and center, year, and state.
- Technical requirements for viewing the page are Netscape 3.0 or later or IE 4.0 or later, with JavaScript enabled.
- Coverage: 1972 to the present; updated weekly; maintained by DHHS/NIH.
- Freely available on the web.
- Indexes IEEE/IEE transactions, journals, magazines, and conference proceedings, and all current IEEE standards.

National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) 
- Access to multitude of computational molecular biology and gene sequencing databases.
- GenBank DNA Sequence, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man (OMIM), Molecular Modeling Database (MMDB) of 3D protein structures, the Unique Human Gene Sequence Collection (UniGene), a Gene Map of the Human Genome, the Taxonomy Browser, and the Cancer Genome Anatomy Project (CGAP) are some of the databases available.

STKE: Signal Transduction Knowledge Environment
- Part of the website of the journal Science, published by the AAAS.
- Provides a set of resources for information on cell signaling.
- Includes original Perspectives, Reviews, and Protocols, most of which have been solicited by the editors; a "Virtual Journal" with full-text articles from nineteen publishers; and a Connections Map database which contains information on signaling components and their relations.
- Coverage: 1997 to present; updated continually; AAAS.
- One of the few databases offering citation searching - the ability to see who has cited an article.
- Includes access to Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index.
- Over 8700 multidisciplinary journals are indexed.
- Coverage: 1990 to present.
- A citation alerts feature will notify users when specified articles have been cited.
