Today the most promising scientific breakthroughs are happening at the white-hot intersection of science and engineering, and multibillion dollar markets are emerging to support and commercialize them. To capture the opportunities ahead, OHSU’s Department of Science & Engineering has launched an ambitious program of strategic growth.

As a graduate department of science and technology, DSE has a big impact. For more than 40 years, it has offered students a uniquely interdisciplinary education combining science and engineering -- the kind of rigorous, practical training intended to help discover real-world solutions to contemporary problems. The 2001 merger with OHSU, meanwhile, has expanded the department's reach dramatically and opened up new avenues for collaboration in the biomedical sciences.
