Q: Will the School of Science & Engineering be moving to OHSU’s new campus on Portland’s South Waterfront?
A: Our future plans include a continued commitment to serve the educational needs of Washington County. While most of the school’s research activities will move to the South Waterfront in about 7 years, the CE&D program will continue to offer classes in
Hillsboro.
Q: Hasn’t the School of Science & Engineering campus been sold?
A: Yes, and it has been leased back for up to 13 years. The CE&D program will continue offering courses from its present Hillsboro location at least until 2013, and possibly beyond.
Q: How much do courses cost?
A: $625 per credit, or $2500 per 4-credit course.
Q: How long does it take to get the MSEE degree?
A: A full-time student taking three courses each quarter can finish in 12-15 months. A working professional part-time student taking one course each quarter will finish in 3 – 4 years.
Q: What are the admission requirements?
A: Applications for admission must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation, GRE scores, and undergraduate transcripts. Students who have completed at least four School of Science & Engineering courses with a grade of B or better, including two CE & D core courses, can apply under the Advanced Placement option. Under this option only two letters of recommendation are required and GRE scores are not needed.
Q: Can I transfer credits from another school.
A: Yes. We accept transfer credits that have not been, or will not be, applied toward another degree. Up to 12 credits may be transferred from any accredited institution, and up to 18 credits may be transferred from other Oregon University System schools (Portland State University, University of Oregon and Oregon State University).
Q: What are graduation requirements?
A: 48 credits, including the six core courses and six electives of your choice.
Q: Do I need to matriculate before registering for a course?
A: No. You can register for any course for which you have the prerequisites. If you’re not sure if you have the prerequisites, contact the instructor
Q: How do I register for a course?
A: Online or in person at Graduate Education office on the School of Science & Engineering campus.
Q: When are courses offered?
A:. All CE&D courses are scheduled on weekday evenings after 5:00PM, or on weekends.
Q: Where are courses offered?
A: On the School of Science & Engineering campus in Hillsboro, with select courses telecast to the Center for Health & Healing on the South Waterfront.
Q: Will I need to complete my assigned projects using on-campus lab facilities?
A: Most assignments and projects can be completed using software students can install
on their own personal computers, or by remotely accessing on-campus servers.
Q: How do I get started?
A: Most students start with EE570 Advanced Logic Design in Fall quarter, but other entry points are possible.
