Job Title: Post-Doc position
Company: Department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Science and Engineering, Oregon Health and Sciences University
Location: South Riverfront Campus, Center for Health and Healing
Schedule and Salary Range: 1.0 FTE; $51K - $60K, dependent on experience
To Apply: Please go to www.ohsu.edu/hr.

The Point of Care Lab (PoCL) in the Biomedical Engineering Department at OHSU is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow with superior theoretical skills in machine learning and signal processing, including a strong background in Bayesian reasoning and sequential state estimation.

PoCL conducts clinically-relevant technology and engineering research as part of the Oregon Center for Aging and Technology, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health to explore the use of emerging technologies for assessing cognitive and motor changes during aging. Unobtrusive sensors are placed into the homes of community-dwelling elders to monitor daily patterns of activity, computer use, medication adherence, and other behaviors. These sensors collect continuous data that reflect normal variability in behaviors as well as trends that may indicate problematic changes in cognition or mobility. Because data are collected continuously, trends can be identified long before they would become apparent during a typical clinic visit. However, the use of low-cost sensors means that the data are inherently noisy, and extraction of meaningful behavioral data requires sophisticated statistical and dynamical modeling approaches. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to help with the analysis and visualization of these data. This associate will work closely with a team of engineers, software developers, and technicians who support our research projects. Other duties include preparation of scientific papers, assisting with the advising of graduate students, and providing assistance with the submission of grant proposals.

Required Qualifications: Required Qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field; research experience and publications in the area of Bayesian inference, machine learning approaches for pattern recognition and decision analysis, and/or nonparametric and parametric methods for nonlinear time series analysis.
