The American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC) of Albuquerque, New Mexico,
announces the availability of graduate fellowships for 2002-2003 for American
Indian and Alaskan Native students from federally recognized US tribes.
AIGC was founded
in 1969 to help open the doors to graduate education for American Indian
and Alaskan Native college graduates. For over thirty years, AIGC has
awarded more than 10,000 fellowships to qualified Native American and
Alaskan Native students to pursue Master's, Doctorate and professional
degrees in all fields. AIGC has helped to develop many tribal and community
leaders who are working professionals today. Many are leaders who are
responsible for the development of programs that are vital to the well
being of our tribal communities.
Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship

In recognition of Dr. Wesly Eckenfelder's many contributions to the environmental profession, Brown and Caldwell announces a $3,000 scholarship for students pursuing education and careers within the environmental profession. To be eligible, you must be: a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, A full time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited college, a declared major in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental engineering, or one of the environmental sciences (i.e., geology, hydrogeology, biology, ecology, public health, industrial hygience toxicology), and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale. The e7 Fellowship/Scholarship
for Sustainable Energy Development (SED)

The e7 is an organization of leading electricity companies from the G7
nations. In conjunction with its goal of playing an active role in protecting
the global environment, and promoting the efficient generation and use
of electricity, it is offering awards of up to $20,000 US per year for
students pursuing Masters Degrees and up to $25,000 US per year for post-Doctoral
Fellows, each of which will be provided for a two year period. These awards
are available to students who are citizens of developing countries and
countries whose economies are in transition (see list of eligible countries
on our web site), who are interested in continuing their studies and contributing
to the body of knowledge in, Sustainable Energy Development. They will
be available commencing in the 2002 academic year, and can be employed
for tuition, books and living expenses.

fellows to engage in a year of postdoctoral research and scholarship in
an environment free from the interference of their normal professional
duties. In sponsoring this fellowship program, the Ford Foundation wishes
to help recent doctoral recipients achieve greater recognition and develop
the professional associations that will make them more effective and productive
in academic employment.

The Fulbright Program was established in 1946, at the end of World War

and skills. Its primary source of funding is an annual appropriation made

as well as through tuition waivers, university housing, and other benefits.

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute will award at least 80 five-year fellowships
for full-time study toward a Ph.D. or an Sc.D. degree in the biological
sciences. The fellowships are intended for students who have completed
less than one year of graduate study toward an M.S., a Ph.D., or an Sc.D.
Degree in the biological sciences. Students who hold or are pursuing medical
or dental degrees (M.D., D.O., D.V.M., D.D.S.) may also be eligible to
apply for fellowship support for study toward a Ph.D. or an Sc.D.

As a means of increasing the number of US citizens trained in disciplines
of science and engineering of military importance, the Department of Defense
(DoD) annually awards 90 - 150 new three-year graduate fellowships based
upon available funding. The DOD will offer these fellowships to individuals
who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for advanced training
in science and engineering. National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate
(NDSEG) Fellowships will be awarded for study and research leading to
doctoral degrees in mathematical, physical, biological, ocean and engineering
sciences. Preference will be given to applicants who indicate an intention
to pursue a doctoral degree in, or closely related to, one of the following
specialties: Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering Biosciences

The NPSC offers a unique and exciting doctoral graduate fellowship program
in the Physical Sciences and related Engineering fields. The program is
open to all eligible students, with special emphasis toward the recruitment
of underrepresented minority and female physical science and engineering
students in order to offset the historic imbalance faced by these underrepresented
groups within the research community. Each fellowship is worth from $156,000
to $200,000 depending on which university a student attends. There are
no applicant fees for the student to apply for a NPSC fellowship. This
is a full-time study, Ph.D. track fellowship program.

The program will award scholarships worth $1,500 to qualified full-time
undergraduate and graduate students and $750 to qualified half-time undergraduate
students. The scholarships may be renewed annually until students receive

must be continuously enrolled and maintain a minimum grade-point average
