Update on ArtCentral
An MST team finished in the middle of the pack among participants at Moot Corp, a highly competitive international business-plan championship that drew 28 teams from all over the world to Austin, Texas earlier this month (May 4 to 6, 2000).
The OGI team qualified for Moot Corp by beating out 19 others to win this year's New Venture Championship competition hosted by the University of Oregon the previous week (April 27 to 29, 2000).
The MST team's presentation involved a proposed web-based company called ArtCentral.com that would provide interior designers, art brokers, and other art sales professionals with access to original art by artists worldwide. ArtCentral team members are graduates of the Management in Science and Technology (MST) department.
"This was the first time one of our teams made it to Moot Corp, and it was a great honor for OGI," said Alvin Tong, the ArtCentral team's adviser and a MST professor. "Most important of all, it was a great experience for all of us. We got very useful feedback from the judges, and future MST students will greatly benefit from this experience."
